How to “Treat Yo Self”… Even On a College Kid’s Budget

Showing yourself love when you’re overworked can do wonders for your mind, body, and spirit. There are tons of simple things you can do each week that won’t break your piggy bank but help you feel good. Face masks, self-love, bubble baths, etc. Here are some of my favorite #treatyoself things to do without breaking bank.
Treat Yo Body:
Hop in the shower with your favorite body scrub, mine is the ‘Shea Moisture Argan Oil W/ Shea Hand & Body Scrub w/ Frankincense & Myrrh Extract’. I love it because it’s all natural and leaves me feeling and smelling wonderful. It’s so inexpensive, you can find it on Amazon at my Market Place for $8.99. If you’re not into buying body scrubs my favorite DIY one is the Coffee Body Scrub which helps reduce the appearance of cellulite and if you love coffee as much as I do you’ll love leaving the shower smelling like a nice cup of coffee. The only downside is constantly getting coffee grinds stuck in my shower which can damage the pipes (Sorry Mom).
Treat Yo Face:
After leaving the shower feeling as soft as a baby’s bottom, it’s only logical to make sure your face feels the same way. Which is why I always finish my shower with a face mask. After washing my face with any face wash, I tend to use my ‘Freemans Feeling Beautiful Chocolate and Strawberry Clay Mask’. This mask can be bought at any beauty supply store and costs $3.49 but it’s enough to last you a month and that if you use it three or four times a week. If you cannot access a beauty supply store, Amazon sells them as well. It softens and tones skin while leaving your face smelling like a chocolate bar. It is one of those masks that you have to let dry then wash off. If that isn’t your speed, Freemans’ has other masks for all skin types that you can try them all and never break the bank.
If you’re willing to spend a little more money on your face; the holy grail of face masks is the Mask of Magnaminty from Lush Cosmetics. It is a little expensive at $14.95 for a small pot but THIS LIL BABY is worth it! It leaves your skin dirt free, smooth, and the peppermint in it make blemishes a thing of the past. If you’re not ready to make the commitment you can always get a sample for free at any Lush Cosmetics near you.
Treat Yo Tummy:
Pick a meal or a treat, something that you’ve been craving. Don’t worry about calories, what’s in the food, or any of other diet culture concerns. If you want a slice of cake go for it, maybe you want a pizza do it! My go to cheat treat for Sundays is a pint of ‘Talenti’, which I happen to believe is a gift from the Gelato Gods. Yes, it’s a bit expensive, but if I don’t have the entire pint today there’s some for next Sunday. Sometimes the week starts kicking my butt, sometimes I don’t have the motivation to keep it up, sometimes all I want is a dinner box from Pizzahut and that is okay. This isn’t the way you eat every day, why not have a small indulgence.
Things get rough, and I would be lying if I said that this wasn’t true. You get busy, you’re preoccupied with something else; and boom, you forget to take care of yourself or feel like you don’t have the funds to do so. Even when you’re going through the motions, it is important to take some time out of your week to #TreatYoself
