Brunch n Bottles: Sunday Brunch at PS450

It’s almost the weekend, you know what rhymes with weekend? BRUNCH and y’all know its not Brunch unless it’s bottomless so grab your glass and get ready.

To celebrate the beginning of the end of summer I met up with a few friends to go to one of the hottest brunch spots in NYC and I must say they delivered. Now if you haven’t heard about PS450 it is about time you learned: No, this is not your average elementary school. It isn’t even an elementary school which kind of makes you wonder what the PS stands for *confused face*. Anyways, according to their website they are NYC’s #1 weekend Brunch Party mainly known for its $50 boozy brunch deal. This venue is 21+ to enter, so this might not be the brunch place to go to when you’re stuck babysitting your cousin.

This is not your classy over the top Sunday brunch spot, you know what I mean… those places where you have to be dressed to the 9’s to attend. Don’t get me wrong PS450 is a nice place and you definitely can brunch here on a Sunday like my friends and I did! However, this is not your average Sunday early afternoon Brunch spot. If you’re looking for a brunch spot that will have you drunkenly stumbling into a Uber praying you don’t throw up on the ride home or send any embarrassing “you up?” texts by 3 pm, this is the place for you.

PS450 offers a Saturday and Sunday bottomless brunch, for $50 minus tax and gratuity from 11:00am- 6:30pm with a 2-hour seating limit. Now that’s how I like to brunch. With extensive hours for the early morning brunchers and the barely rolled out of bed brunchers, there’s a little something for everyone. They are a popular spot so yes, they take brunch reservations, specifically for parties of 4 or more. My advice: it gets insanely busy, even if you’re brunching alone see if you can at least try to make some reservations. They also have a dress code, it isn’t too strict, but it is enforced at the door. So remember to leave your Timbs, Workboots, or anything else that screams DEADASS at home. The 2-hour bottomless brunch special includes: one entree and unlimited Champagne, Bellini’s, Bloody Mary’s, Mimosas, Sangria, Bud Light, and Shock Top. They also have a live Dj who comes in at 11am to make sure you get the most out of your brunch experience.

When I tell y’all the Dj came through, Mr. Dj came thruuuuuuu. Although, the front half of PS450 is very sit down diner-like (Don’t worry there’s a dance floor in the back) he had everyone in their chairs bumping, at one point people were electric sliding by the bar. The array of music was wonderful, he catered to the older crowd with some throwback tunes and even played some music that whoever may have snuck in with their fakes would know. With or without the boozy brunch deal you’ll be on your feet having a good time. However, it’s Brunch, we didn’t come here for the music so let’s get to it.

What makes PS450 differ from other Brunch Spots I have been to, has been the fact that they give you the bottle of champagne and the juice so it is up to you how strong your drinks will be. I wish someone told me this before I went because I mentally prepared myself for weak mimosas but ended up falling asleep at my table. Yes, your girl can hang but brunching with my Cancun crew will give your liver a run for its money. So this place is definitely where you want to take your “I’m not an alcoholic, I just have a high tolerance” friend. The best part, the bottles just keep coming, I can’t even count how many bottles of champagne our table polished off. Just make sure you can distinguish the Sangria from the juice because nothing puts you on your ass faster than Sangria mixed with Champagne.

Now I know you must be thinking it sounds way too good to be true so clearly, there has to be some sort of downfall: something, anything that will make this spot more realistic and way less appealing to you. My friend, unfortunately, you are right. The only thing I found wrong with this venue was the fact that we waited a while to be seated even though we did have reservations. Then when we finally did get seated the drinkware was dirty. However, let’s be realistic it’s a busy, boozy, and brunching Sunday, they apologized and swiftly replaced the unclean utensils. So technically they deserve a little credit for being on top of it. Plus they made up for it with shots!

Overall, was it my best brunch experience? Definitely not but it didn’t send me running to the hills vowing never to brunch again. PS450 is a popping brunch spot and definitely something I look forward to trying in the winter or fall because you know the seasons make all the difference. So stay tuned on an update from the girl willing to spend her last dime on brunch.

See you soon Boozy Brunchers!
